Meet Our Host: Roger Faubert
From nickel miner to TV producer and director:
Born and raised in Sudbury Ontario, Roger's first job was working underground in a nickel mine. After a year and half of working with explosives, he was happy to start a job as a studio cameraman at CKSO TV, a local TV station. In 1965, he decided to move to Windsor and worked at Chrysler Canada on the production line. After a couple of years, realizing he really needed to do what he loved, he returned to television and started working at CKLW TV, which later became CBC. Roger quickly moved up the rank and became a Producer and Director of a variety of television productions. He stayed with CBC until 1985 when he went to St. Clair College and became the Manager of the Media Department and taught television to the advertising students. While there he worked in various capacity such as Athletic Director, manager of Media and Print Shop, Manager of Student Services and Marketing and Recruitment until his retirement in 2012.
Sweet and hilarious.. the perfect combo for an event host!
Always a funny guy, Roger's funny personality makes him a hit everywhere he goes. And he has the sweetest wife, Laiman Ng, who still laughs hard at every one of his jokes. Roger's insightful and humourous comments are always gentle, but they keep people on the edge of their seat!
He knows a thing or two about people. Always involved, always volunteering.
Throughout his career, Roger sought and maintained his skills through numerous professional development opportunities including the completion of the Disney Philosophy on Customer Service. His community involvement is wide-ranging from being a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader, a coach of baseball and hockey to being involved with The International Freedom Festival, Challenge Cup, and the United Way as well as being on the board of the Hospice of Windsor, Teen Health Centre, Victim Services and many others. Even in his "retirement", he is still involved with numerous activities whether as a motivational speaker, videographer/producer, woodcarver and lives a good balanced life.
He's just a well-rounded, awesome guy. And we're so exited he'll be a co-host for this year's event!
